Diamond encrusted iPhone

An Apple iPhone 3G made of 18 carat gold and encrusted with diamonds is laying claim to the title of the world's most expensive phone. It was coming wasn't it! Where there's gold, diamonds are sure to follow.

It's become a familiar pattern, as we saw most recently with an 18k gold Shuffle that was soon followed by a diamond encrusted version. So it was time to start an office pool after a 24k iPhone began making the rounds a few weeks ago.

In classically over-the-top fashion, the U.K. purveyor has adorned this limited edition with 420 diamonds totaling 5.65 carats set in 18k white or yellow gold, with a choice of white, black or pink sapphires. Decisions, decisions! With a price tag of $41,225 price, it laughs in the face of the credit crunch.

Designed by Austrian jeweller Peter Aloisson the customised iPhone is priced at £1.6 million. The handset is surrounded by a white gold line encrusted with a total of 138 brilliant cut diamonds of the best quality.

But the most prominent feature of the "Kings button" phone is its home button that features a rare 6.6 carat diamond.

Cool Ice Trays

I recently attended (gatecrashed!) a party and they had some cool ice cubes in cocktails we had so thought i'd do a post on the coolest ice cubes.

Shark Fin Ice Cube Tray
I think this is a pretty cool ice cube design. Each ice cube are made like an iceberg so that the fin part always stays upright in your glass, just visible above the beverage line, while the rest of the ice cube remains submerged. And for just over $8 from Play.com, how can you go wrong?

Skull and Cross Bones Ice Tray

Plonk a couple of these Bonechillers Skull and Crossbone Ice cubes into your drink, especially cool for pirate parties!

Powerbocking or Powerskip

Some gadgets are good for you. Take the example of Powerbocking, the act of jumping and running with elastic-like spring-loaded stilts. For some it is an extreme sport, for others it is a form of exercise or even a means of artistic expression.

The use of the stilts to perform extreme jumping, running and acrobatics is known as 'Bocking' or 'PowerBocking' after the inventor. Powerisers are occasionally known as Kangaroo Boots because of their resemblance to the legs of the animal.

Each boot consists of a foot-plate with snowboard type bindings, rubber foot pad which is also commonly called a hoof, and a fibreglass leaf spring. Using only their weight, and few movements, the user is generally able to jump 3–5 ft (1–1.5 meters) off the ground and run up to 20 mph (32 km/h). They also give the ability to take up to 9-foot (2.7 meters) strides.

They were originally patented by Alexander Böck, from Germany (European Patent EP 1 196 220 B1 on July 2, 2003, US Patent No. 6,719,671 B1 on April 13, 2004, both with a priority date of July 20, 1999), as Powerskips. The name of "PowerBocks" is derived from Mr. Böck's name.

The original Powerskips are considered a brand for professional and serious enthusiast use, costing in excess of US$1000. The other professional brand is Velocity Stilts. Velocity Stilts are Powerskips that have been modified with different bindings and stripped down to minimize weight, and resold by Stiltwerks, inc. Velocity Stilts occasionally retain the Powerskip logo on some parts.

There are 4 main companies producing lower cost powerbocks for hobbyists. Fly Jumpers, PoweriZers (now also called PowerStriders) and Pro Jumps are some of the numerous different vendors of identical models produced by one company in China called Flying Locust. Poweriser brand powerbocks were produced by Korean Company but actually manufactured in Philippines. 7 League Boots are produced by an Austrian company and are the most expensive of the non-pro brands. The fourth is called Skyrunner, which does not pay royalties to Alexander Böck and is illegal in copyright-protected countries.

Darth Vader Toaster

When sipping your morning coffee from Darth Vaders helmet, you can now also brand your toast with a silhouette of the Dark Lord of the Sith, using this Star Wars toaster.

This black, ominous kitchen appliance easily leaves the mark of Vader’s helmet in every yummy piece of toast. Slather some Bantha butter on top, or make two pieces for an extra-Sithy BLT. Force power not required to operate toaster.

The Darth Vader Toaster is estimated to arrive in January 2009 and the product can now be pre-ordered for $54.99 from the official Star Wars webshop.
