Samsung Wave

As well as an impressive camera and great battery life, the Samsung Wave offers a sleek design, a superb screen and fast operation. There are also a large number of home screens featured in order to display the many applications available.

The actual handset is crammed with an array of top end features such as HD video recording, a 1Ghz Samsung-own Hummingbird processor, multi-touch support, the most recent Super AMOLED screen and an extremely slim chassis.

As with many of the previous Samsung handsets, this device also offers Samsung’s TouchWiz overlay, therefore those that have previously owned a Samsung phone won’t have any problems getting used to using the device.

The phone is less than 11mm thick in size making it one of the slimmest phones on the market and the metallic build quality is noticeable the second you get the handset out of the box.

The front of the phone houses the call, terminate and menu keys, it therefore offers a contemporary and minimal style. The volume controls are situated on the left hand side of the handset and the camera shutter keys can be found on the right hand side of the phone. A 3.5mm headphone jack is located on the top of the phone; this sits next to a microUSB port complete with a sliding cover.

The SuperAMOLED screen offers a high-resolution display of a 400 by 800 WVGA screen with impressive contrast and amazing viewing angles.

The Samsung Wave is certainly a great looking handset that also allows users with access to a huge amount of information; this is made possible due to the numerous featured widgets and also the wide screen Internet display page.

Cool Phone - LG Pop

As cool mobile phones go, LG can compete with the best of them. The LG Cookie has sold more than 5 million worldwide proving once and for all that if you want a big seller, strip out the flashy features, give it a toucshcreen and watch it walk out the door. Loved as the Cookie may be, it’s now-dated design means it’s ripe for replacement, hence the LG GD510 Pop, a sequel in all but name.

LG Pop Features:
The LG Pop does have some really cool features such as....
  • A 240×400 pixel 3″ touchscreen.
  • A 3 megapixel camera.
  • Memory can be increased with a MicroSD card up to 16GB in size.
  • LG S-Class-style user interface with social networking widgets.
  • FM Radio plus a music and video player.

LG GD510 Pop Video Review

To only mention a few features in order to sum up the LG Pop is to do it an injustice, as it’s clear LG have worked hard on its design too. The Pop shares little in terms of appearance with the Cookie and more with its upmarket sister, the LG Arena, thanks to the slick chrome chassis and the massive expanse of screen. The small size of the handset may surprise you too, given that it boasts a 3″ screen, but LG worked their magic and cut down the bezel to just 4.8mm in order to squeeze it on to a phone measuring only 97×49x11 and weighing 87 grams!

Cool design touches continue with the single button on the front panel, which glows red or green depending on the function it can perform, green to start a call, red to end for example, and the brushed aluminium frame is complimented by either a black or silver colour scheme. LG have also made an optional solar panel for the Pop, which replaces the existing rear cover, to give a sun-driven boost to your standby and talk time, adding some great ‘green’ credentials to this little touchscreen phone.

If you’re a longtime Cookie user and like the idea of a change, or are considering another attractively priced mid-range touchscreen phone such as the Samsung Preston or Tocco Lite, take a good look at the GD510 Pop – as the small, very stylish and surprisingly well-equipped mobile phone may just win you over.

The LG Pop is now available as one of a wide range of pay as you go mobile phones at Dialaphone

iPad O2 Tariffs

Good news for Apple iPad UK people! You can now get your hands on an iPad - O2 has announced pricing for the device.

Pre-ordering for the popular gadget started yesterday in advance of the release date proper, which is 28 May. If you haven't already pre-ordered, Apple's suggested pricing for the iPad ranges from £429 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only version, up to £699 for the 64GB Wi-Fi plus 3G option, and buyers will be able to get their hands on one online, from Apple stores and from selected Apple retailers.

And now, once you have one, you'll also be able to work out what kind of data tariff you need to go with it. O2 is offering the micro sim required to fit the iPad (it won't work with normal sims) for free; and data from £2 per day for 500MB of data. That goes up as far as £15 per month for 3GB of data, and all options come with unlimited access to BT Openzone and The Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots. It's a fairly limited range of options at present, with noticably no heavy user tariff available just yet - perhaps O2 is seeing what demand is like.

"We are truly excited to provide service for iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G,” commented Sally Cowdry, O2’s Marketing Director. “We’ve worked closely with Apple to make sure customers get an excellent experience when using their iPad Wi-Fi + 3G on O2. Not only will it be quick and easy to buy value for money data access from the device, but customers will also benefit from our overall, award-winning service wrap which includes great network and great customer service and the added benefit of access to thousands of public Wi-Fi hotspots.”

O2 has also announced that it has worked with Apple to provide a way of managing your data account via the iPad, with notifications provided as the data limit is neared.

More information on tariffs is available at www.o2.co.uk/ipadtariffs.

New 2010 Apple Macbook Pro Intel Core i5 and i7 is finally here!

The long wait is over and it's here! The new Apple Macbook Pro with Intel core i5 and i7 has finally been released and available at the Apple Mac Store from today. With so much speculation and rumors the past few weeks that today, 13th April was the day Apple was to release the latest Apple Macbook Pros..and it's all come true!

Everything looks the same on the outside, but things are certainly different on the inside. The new 2010 MacBook Pro has seen upgrades to its hard drive, processor, graphics and battery life – all of which make this the best model yet.

The Two 13-inch models offers a Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics and a choice of either a 250GB or 320GB Hard Drive. Prices here:

There are three versions of the 15-inch model; two come with an Intel Core i5, but offer different speeds. They both have 4GB of RAM but one has a 320GB hard drive and the other a 500GB. The starting price is £999. The other 15-inch MacBook pro comes with the new Intel Core i7, but offers the same hardware features as the other two starting price is £1,499.

Finally we have the 17-inch: 2.53GHz model. The base version of this model comes with an Intel Core i5, but can be upgraded. All other hardware is the same as the 15-inch models and the 8- to 9-hour battery life is sure to win over a few buyers. Starting price for this model is £1,899. If you want to make your new Macbook Pro even better, then why no consider upgrading to an SSD – offering greater performance and extended battery life.

So what does the new Apple Macbook Pro come with compare to older versions?

New Apple Macbook Spec

Each MacBook Pro has a glass Multi-touch trackpad that now includes inertial scrolling. Each device has an LED back-lit display that can be viewed from wide angles. The 17 inch MacBook Pro has a higher resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and the 15 inch model has a resolution of 1680 x 1050 although this display is optional.

SSD’s are also optional whereby you can choose from a 128GB, 256GB or a 512GB solid state drive if required.

All MacBook Pros are available now over at the Apple store along with being available at authorised dealers. Full technical specs can be found over at Apple.

Faster Processor

The MacBook Pro lineup starts with advanced Intel Core 2 Duo processors running at up to 2.66GHz. And things only get faster from there. The 15- and 17-inch models now feature the latest Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors — the fastest dual-core processors on the market — which reach Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.33GHz. With up to 4MB of shared L2 or L3 cache, MacBook Pro runs applications up to 50 percent faster than before

Larger Hard Drive

Each MacBook Pro comes standard with a large hard drive offering up to 500GB of storage capacity,4 so there’s plenty of room for your photo libraries, video projects, and files. Or, for enhanced durability, you can order a solid-state drive with no moving parts. Choose 128GB, 256GB, or even 512GB. MacBook Pro also features ample high-speed 1066MHz DDR3 memory, with support for up to 8GB of RAM, so you can run more applications at once and quickly access your data and media. Configure your MacBook Pro now at the Apple Online Store

Better battery life

The new energy-efficient architecture in every MacBook Pro, along with automatic graphics switching in the 15- and 17-inch models, gives you dramatically longer battery life. On a single charge, the battery in the new 13-inch MacBook Pro lasts up to 10 hours (8 to 9 hours on the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro).1 And you’ll get up to 1000 full charge and discharge cycles — that’s nearly three times the lifespan of typical notebook batteries.2 Advanced chemistry and Adaptive Charging allow the battery to maintain charging capabilities longer and determine the optimal way to charge the battery’s cells. Because the battery lasts up to five years, MacBook Pro uses just one battery in the same time a typical notebook uses three. That makes for less waste. And that, in turn, makes for one environmentally friendly battery.

Better Graphics

MacBook Pro gives you more options for high-performance graphics, starting with the new NVIDIA GeForce 320M integrated graphics processor in the 13-inch model. It’s up to 80 percent faster than the previous generation and is even more energy-efficient for everyday tasks like writing email and surfing the web.3

The new 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro models give you even more power for graphics-intensive 3D games and pro applications, and longer battery life for everyday tasks like checking email or surfing the web. Depending on which application you’re running, these models automatically switch between the blazingly fast discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M processor and power-efficient integrated Intel HD Graphics. So you don’t have to compromise performance for battery life — and vice versa.

2010 Apple Macbook Pro Laptops - Evidence they are on the way!

Since my 2007 Apple Macbook Pro has broken, I was happy to hear the new 2010 Macbook Pro will be with us very soon (April 13th?) as speculation now turns to evidence after Macrumors published this screenshot of inventory listings for the new laptops.

The article suggests that Microcenter has received these new part numbers for four different MacBook Pros in the 15-inch and 17-inch range.
  • Apple System Good-USA $1799.99
  • Mac system Better-USA $1999.99
  • Mac system #1 Best-USA $2199.99
  • Mac system #2 Best-USA $2299.99
It is thought that these new laptops from Apple will use Intel Core i7 and i5 processors, so proof of a huge performance. We are still uncertain of a final release date, but there is a consensus that it will be on April 13 – so just two days to wait.
